A Fine Mess

Texan band Wild Moccasins sound just as cute as their name implies. Started by Cody Swann (vocals, guitar) and his girlfriend Zahira Guiterrez (vocals, keys) a little over a year ago, the original musical direction changed from folk to pop as the band grew with additional members Nicholas Cody (bass), Andrew Ortiz (drums) and Andrew Lee (guitar).
Despite not being around for very long Wild Moccasins have already opened for acts such as Tilly and The Wall, The Dodos, and Peter & The Wolf, as well as completed Microscopic Metronomes, their first record consisting of indie pop that’s as fresh as a sunny Sunday morning.
Citing “everything and anything pop” as their influences, the band proves that they already know how to reel the listener in. Whether they’re singing about the mailman, people seeing Jesus in a cup of tea or just downright yawning, their songs always have a fun and bubbly aura about them.
As for the near future, Wild Moccasins will be showcasing at SXSW this March, followed by a tour of the east coast & mid west U.S. in June. After that I’m sure it’s on to even bigger things.
