I Am The Crime
A Fine Mess
A Fine Mess

~ Hollywood, Mon Amour Feat. Juliette Lewis – “This Is Not America” ~
Similar to Nouvelle Vague’s take on classic 80s songs, Hollywood, Mon Amour breathes fresh life into this David Bowie song and turns it into a smooth, almost ambient ballad that sounds as old as it does new.
~ My Teenage Stride – “Theme From Teenage Suicide” ~
Indie pop with a late 70s/early 80s streak. Fun and kind of morbid at the same time thanks to these lyrical gems: “I’m a killer but I never started a war” and the chorus “She was a teenage suicide I never wanted her more”. Love it!
~ Sad Day For Puppets – “Anne Says” ~
New upcoming shoegaze/dream pop band from Sweden. Very pretty, of course, especially the chorus when she sings “Anne please, get back up on your feet”. Bonus fact: Sad Day For Puppets formed in Blackeberg, the suburb where John Ajvide Lindqvist’s wonderful horror book-turned-movie “Let The Right One In” takes place.
~ Future Islands – “Little Dreamer” ~
Today, Sweden’s crown princess officially announced that she is engaged. Whatever. I’m trumping that by announcing my engagement to Future Islands’ “Little Dreamer”, because that’s how much I love this electronic ballad with its soulful vocals.
~ Union Of Knives – “Doing Drugs” ~
New, hard hitting track from these Scottish electro rockers. Whether you’re in the mood to dance or simply rock out, this is the song to do it to. From their latest album The Anti-Fire which seems to be pretty awesome.
