A Fine Mess

Despite what their name might indicate, The Very Sexuals‘ album Post-Apocalyptic Love is actually a cute record, filled with quirky indie-pop tunes suitable for the more alternative side of the mainstream.
Formed by Joep van Son of The Sugarettes and Pien Feith of Neonbelle, The Very Sexuals also consist of Niels Philipsen, Cox Dieben, Rob Bours and sometimes Iskaa and Oscar Kocken. Branded merely as a “studio project”, The Very Sexuals might have to step things up a notch considering all the positive feedback they’ve gotten from fans as well as the press. Hopefully it will be promoted from “project” to “proper act” because I definitely want to hear more from this Dutch band.
The eight track album is currently available for free at TVS’ official site and I’m telling you – you’d be a fool not to download it. The Very Sexuals could very well change what their home country is most widely associated with – clogs, tulips, windmills - to their own brand of harmonious boy/girl vocal pop. Tracks like “WW III Rocketeer”, lead single “Carla”, summer drenched “Bowie Eyes”, contradictory ballad “Anti-Valentine” and the oddly familiar sounding “Wrecked The Century” shouldn’t go unheard. Although that goes for the whole album.
