A Fine Mess
Antennas – “Feeling Feline Tonight”
Swedish trio Antennas caused quite a stir with their campy single “Lies” last year. Now they come armed with a full album filled with similar new wave pop that hopefully will create further ripples on the water for the band.
While I was rather underwhelmed by the first listen, Feeling Feline Tonight definitely has a charm to it. Antennas wear their new wave influences - such as early Ultravox, Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet - on their sleeves, but they don’t quite have the same knack for melodies as those bands.
So while it might not jump out and grab you immediately, Feeling Feline Tonight does grow on you after a few spins, which (frankly) is often an even better sign of long lasting quality. I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed with this album.
Best tracks: “Cold Watery Grave”, “Youngbloods”, “Media Training”, “Look You In The Eye”, “Upward Mobile” and “Big Fuss”.
Feeling Feline Tonight is available for purchase as of March 6th.

Ha ha for me it’s the other way around – I never really liked “Lies” but “Media Training” appealed to me almost straight away.

That’s the best name for an album I’ve heard in quite a while! But I’m rather indifferent to the single, I’m afraid.
