I Am The Crime
A Fine Mess
A Fine Mess

When listening to Heat Like This, it’s hard to imagine that MFMB were influenced by bands such as Arcade Fire in the beginning of their career. Quickly growing tired of that particular sound though, the Swedish five piece added drum machines, samplers and synthesizers, resulting in their current sparkling electro rock which is showcased on this latest EP.
While three tracks may not be much to judge any artists’ full potential on, Heat Like This is a good indicator of the quality that MFMB have to offer: “Tune On” is the obvious brain looper with its jagged synths and hooks; the slightly darker “I Would Give It To Anyone” may not have the instant touch of “Tune On” but definitely has an appeal of its own, making it my favorite; and the title track sounds like a fun extended dance remix thanks to the bongo drums and vocal repeats.
MFMB themselves say that while the new EP has some cheesy aspects to it, it’s also more colorful compared to their previous effort The Fine Detail (which essentially had the same electro rock sound but with a colder feel to it). Personally I like them both, but have to agree that it’s easier to dance with a smile on my face when listening to Heat Like This.
