I Am The Crime

A Fine Mess

~ El Perro Del Mar - “Change Of Heart” ~
So damn beautiful you have to hear it for yourself to believe it. Sara’s voice is like honey and the music just floats with it. My favorite part is when she sings the line “a hand in the darkness”. Superb indie-pop. Taken from her latest EP Love Is Not Pop which is just as delicous as this song, if not even more.
~ Polly Scattergood – “Please Don’t Touch” (The Golden Filter Pop Mix) ~
I’ve yet to jump on the Polly Scattergood bandwagon of devoted fans. Usually I find her rather dull but this remix is anything but that. Fresh electropop that brings out her voice.
~ Doctors & Dealers – “On The Dancefloor” ~
I’m not sure how to describe Doctors & Dearlers sound – yes, it’s indie pop, but with a little twist. I imagine her downing whiskey together with her band while playing for a measly tip in an old bar when listening to her music. This is a simple but catchy little tune. From the album Lost Friends And Newfound Habits.
~ Diamond Vampires – “Friday Nights” ~
Starts out with a conversation between a man and a woman, where he tries to ask her out (or stalk her, I’m not sure – she doesn’t sound very pleased to see him at first) and then turns into a slick electronic instrumental. Kind of hypnotizing, really.
~ Michael Zapruder – “Black Wine” ~
This song nearly clocks in an impressive nine minutes, yet it doesn’t feel that long. A laid back tune, pretty in a somewhat sad way with beautiful female vocals backing up Zapruder in the chorus. From his album Dragon Chinese Cocktail Horoscope.

The beginning of Friday Nights comes from a punk movie by Susan Seidelman called “Smithereens”.
