The Sweet Serenades‘ new song “Die Young” actually kind of suits their name as it is a sweet (albeit bitterly so) duet with Club 8 singer Karolina about the dangers of falling in love with a one night stand. Apparently it was featured in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, but what upcoming-yet-already-popular-in-the-blog-world band hasn’t been featured on that show? I just hope The Sweet Serenades don’t suffer the same fate as Imogen Heap who I used to adore but can’t listen to anymore without imagining Marissa and Ryan from The O.C. pouting over whatever injustice their upper-class lives have inflicted upon them (or the SNL skit it resulted in, but at least that one was kind of funny). No, do the song justice and listen to it without having it tainted by the context of some American soap drama. And if you simply must have something to watch while listening, then check out the cute video:
“Die Young” is available on The Sweet Serenades debut album Balcony Cigarettes (a previously posted track from said album can still be found here).

I haven’t been sure whether or not to feature Chew Lips here, as I got over their album Unicorn pretty fast. It has all the element for me to enjoy it: electro pop with female vocals, good hooks and so on, but I found a lot of the songs to sound too similar to one another, leaving me with a rather blurred impression of the album as a whole. I do still enjoy the song “Seven” though, and since they have a pretty cool video for it plus are offering the mp3 for free, I figured why not share it:

I don’t claim to stay on top of what O’Spada are up to, but I do think they’re pretty good and I gotta support my fellow Swedes, right?
This time it’s a remix of the track “Ten Strikes” done by French producer DAZE, as well as a video of the original version of the song done by “two Englishmen using old stock footage and stop motion animation to create a very surrealistic experience.” Yeah, you be the judge of that.
Personally I think the DAZE remix is much sharper than the original. O’Spada in general seem to go for a sort of late 80’s dance sound that sounded old even back then, but it still has a nostalgic value.
O’Spada’s next single “Pay Off” is due in February and the album (with the same name) will be out sometime before summer.

Taken from their new album We Come From The Bright Side, the video for 60 Watt Kid’s “Virtual Plastic Surgery” is as kooky and awesome as the song itself.

Two video posts in a row? What on earth is going on? Well how was I supposed to resist The Octopus Projects‘ new video when I saw the above screen caption? Two green, um, things standing by the sea in front of a lady in a pretty dress who just happens to be waving flags (actually, she’s spelling out “Wet Gold” using semaphore) that are in my favorite color – brilliant! And when you actually watch the video you’ll discover that it also has a singing water raft and funny looking sea creatures:
The song is from the band’s current EP Golden Beds and the video is featured on the enhanced version which also has an additional five tracks and seven videos. The band is currently touring North America in support of the Golden Beds EP on the following dates:

Here is the first video by The Olympic Symphonium for the track “Side By Side”, taken from their sophomore album More In Sorry Than In Anger. It’s a very beautiful and creative video, not to mention a lovely song. Make sure to check out the mp3 below though, as it’s one of my favorite tracks off the album.

Take a relatively catchy tune named “Sunshine”, performed by a pretty blond girl (aka Name The Pet) and release it just in time for the summer holidays. What do you get? A potential summer hit, of course. In Sweden at least.

A light post for this Friday: new video by Cryptacize called “Blue Tears”, from their second and latest album Mythomania. Good track, cool video!
