Crime Waves

~ Alessi’s Ark“Simple Man” ~
I adore Alessi Laurent-Marke’s voice, it’s so sweet and endearing which is more evident than ever on this beautiful cover. Seriously, her voice and a guitar is all this girl needs to get your full attention and spellbound you for a long, long time.

~ Keats’ Handwriting“Little Reminder” ~
Indie-pop duo with heavy electronica influences, Keats’ Handwriting were kind enough to send me a couple of their tracks and this one immediately stood out. What can I say, I’m incredibly weak for synth-ish electronica fronted by female vocals.

~ Matt Walters“Echo On” ~
Australian singer/songwriter who sounds much older and wiser than his mere twenty years of age. A very pretty song, calm and soothing. This is the title track from his EP which is due to be out in July. Something to look forward to!

~ Max Justus“Bending Space and Time” ~
A new original track from one of my favorite electronic artists. As I’ve mention before I’m usually not much for instrumental dance tracks, but Max Justus is obviously the exception. I love the strong synths and his usual 80s inspired style on this one.

~ Andrea Perdue“Birds” ~
Such a sweet little folk-tune. The lyrics are both in English and French which just makes it even sweeter. If you like this then I urge to head over to her Last.fm page and download the whole Handscape EP for free.

Crime Waves

~ Amanda Zelina“Obsessed With You” ~
A sweet pop-soul tune from up and coming singer/songwriter Amanda Zelina. Taken from her debut album Love Me Till I’m Me Again which has been two years in the making. The more I listen to this track, the more I like it.

~ Performance“Love Life” ~
One of the good things about being forced to use my old computer – finding a bunch songs by alternative electro outfit Performance on the harddrive! I can’t help but compare them to 80s synth group The Human Leauge. Except Performance’s male lead singer can actually, you know, sing.

~ Alessi’s Ark“Magic Weather” ~
Next to Polly Scattergood, Alessi’s Ark is probably one of the most hyped English acts at the moment. Alessi is still only in her late teens but sounds far wiser than her young age. Her music is incredibly warm and inviting, which this lovely tune perfectly illustrates.

~ Madison Park vs. Lenny B“More Than This” (Lenny B’s Extended Club Mix) ~
The original by Roxy Music is one of my all time favorite songs – I love it to bits. This downtempo dance version is by no means better (like that could even be possible!) but it has a nice fleeting sound to it. So yeah, I like it.

~ Captain“Animal” ~
New track from Captain, yay! While it doesn’t grip me immediately as “Glorious” did, “Animal” grows by each spin. And Rik Flynn’s raspy vocals are just…guh. Can’t wait for their new album.
