~ Rumskib – “Think Eyes Away” ~
When I reviewed their album (here) I described Rumskib as a harsher version of Cocteau Twins, which very much goes for this song. Sharp shoegaze with pretty female vocals that has a bit of an 80s feel to it. I decided to rec it while listening to it when out for a walk the other day, but my enjoyment was rudely interrupted by a bunch of hollering 14-year old boys. So if you’re a 14-year old boy, you’re not allowed to download this.
~ Here We Go Magic – “Fangela” ~
I.Love.Everything.About.This.Song. It sounds so familiar yet I’ve only been listened to it for a short while. A really cute, kind of psychedelic song with hand claps and all. Is Fangela supposed to be a name? Because I’m picturing it as the Fraggle version of Angela. You do remember The Fraggles, right!?
~ Bella – “No One Will Know” ~
Sweet indie-pop flavoured with some electronica. A lovely tune that you’ll want to hear over and over once you realize how awesome it is. Which is about when the extra vocals come in during the chorus towards the middle and end. Then you’ll press repeat. Oh, yes you will.
~ Baby Panda – “Love Can’t Touch You Now” ~
More shoegaze, although this is much more organic (and post-rock) than the Rumskib track. Just a really good song, alluring even, with its many layers. And the band gets extra points in my book for having such a cute name. I love pandas, OK?
~ Low Motion Disco – “Things Are Gonna Get Easier” ~
Beautiful chill out track. Listen to this when you’re feeling troubled and your burden with lighten, at least during the 6 minutes and 16 seconds it plays. Named as one of the top 100 tracks of 2008 by Pitchfork. Not that that matters.
