Sunnybrook

You can tell that Paul North, aka Sunnybrook, is a down to earth guy by two things: the fact that he took his performance name after the street his family lives on, and – perhaps most prominently - his warm, peaceful songs.
Describing his music and lyrics as “very organic”, Sunny points out that the process of growing – whether it’s a person, a plant or whatever - is a central theme in what he creates. In turn, he’d like to think that this inspires others to create as well.
Sunny is also very generous with his music, handing out free copies of the self-released full length Water Me Glow at shows. He’s even offering to send out free CDs so if you want one, drop him a message at his Myspace!
Amongst his influences and inspirations, Sunny mentions family and friends as well as a range of artists: The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Songs of Green Pheasant, Stars of the Lid, The Microphones, and British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist Andy Goldsworthy amongst others. Goldsworthy in particular has inspired him, not just creatively but in a way of life.
This coming fall, Sunnybrook will hit the road together with his brothers band Mom (also known as Sleep Whale) for a tour. If you catch them, expect to be inspired. This is music that nourishes the soul.
