Free Album By Wisdom Tooth

Here’s a little Sunday treat: Yet another I Am The Crime favorite, the ever lovely lo-fi folk princess Wisdom Tooth, is offering a whole album for free. Why? Here’s her own reasoning:

These are the songs I’ve been touring with and selling on the road this summer. I don’t know how long I’ll leave them online as I’d like to make a real release out of them soon (to be distributed in disk format by Bicycle Records and on vinyl by Pink Teeth Records). I know I’m leaking, but whatever, I just want people to hear them. They’re basically my favorites. I hope they’re yours too.

To download the album (song-by-song, I’m afraid but they’re quick), go here.

Early To Bed – “Prayers”

Me and the Horse I Rode In On (aka Henry) and Wisdom Tooth (aka Meagan) have recorded a lovely tune together under the name of Early To Bed. Meagan wrote the song and sings lead while Henry stood for the production and can be heard singing back up vocals during the chorus. A full EP is in the works but probably won’t be out until this coming fall because of time time constricts on both behalves. So until then, enjoy the lullaby-like “Prayers”!

Wisdom Tooth

Ironically, as I write this one of my wisdom teeth are hurting and have done so for the past two weeks now. I’m hoping though that the pain will magically disappear once I post about Wisdom Tooth and her lovely music. Because this destiny you see. The dentist and I however, are not.

At the tender age of 20, Wisdom Tooth (real name Meagan Day) is already about to release her own album on Pink Teeth Records. Besides her current project, Meagan also has ties with Laughing Owls and Skelecopter, and recently wrote and laid down vocals for a song produced by Me and the Horse I Rode In On. Considering that she’s been writing and recording songs since high school it’s no wonder she’s already come so far. Oh and did I mention she’s also in college?

Meagan herself sites “ukulele, garageband, heartache and gratitude” as her main instruments. This should give you an inkling of her sparse yet rich sound. She really doesn’t need much besides her pretty voice and a simple string instrument to create something very moving.

Simplicity seems to be a bit of a theme in Meagan’s life as some of her favorite things are small jars, birthdays and tea with whiskey in it. As for the future, all she asks for “is to have chickens and sunflowers in my yard”.
